What Character I Would Want To Be

If I could be any of the characters i would probably want to be Puck. I would want to be him because he is a fairy, and since he is a fairy he has the power to morph into anything that he wants. He can become plants, animals, you name it. I wish that i could be able to do that. Puck is a character that interests me a lot, and i think that i would very much enjoy being able to be his character. If i had to do a scene with him i would probably do Act 3 Scene 2 because of all the mayhem that he causes between Demetrius, Hermia, Helen, and Lysander. I would also want to be him because does not have anything bad happen to him. He is just there and he causes trouble for other people yet nothing bad ever happens to him.

Flatworld Reflection

1. The best things that I liked about the project was that we were able to have multiple people read over our work. When this happened I was able to get tons of feedback to make my story better. The other part that i liked about this was that it was on the computer. I have realized that when my writing is on the computer it is defanitely better because i can get things done faster and easier.

2. The thing that I liked the least was that we had to revise the story almost every night. It just got so repetitive reading the story, that i soon did not notice mistakes anymore because it was so routine, that instead of actually reading it, i would just memorize it and start reading it by memory and not what was on the actual page. That was pretty much the only thing that I did not like about it.

3. I learned that different schools have different styles of writing, and definitely vocabulary. I noticed that the writing level between schools was very apparent because one school would have students who were not very good, and the other would have students that wrote excellent long thoughtful stories.

4. I think that the project affected my writing a lot since i was able to get all the feedback on what other people thought of my story. And since I knew what other people thought of it, i was able to change the parts that people did not like, and make the parts that they did like even better. So I think that this project greatly affected my writing in a more than beneficiary way.

5. One of the most challenging parts of this project was trying to figure out who was supposed to be giving you feedback, and then making sure they did it. I had a few times where my person did not give me feedback. So i would always have to put their name on the wall, and then have to get it from them. It was all just a big hassle. In the end though, everything worked out.

6. If i had to give advice to someone, it would be to always stay on top of what you had to do. Make sure that you got done early so you would have lots of time to focus on your essay. And go through it many times, keep reading it and looking at words that you think could be exchanged for bigger, and better words. I would also say that when giving advice, leaving a little bit of what you thought, or a little something that wasn't on the revision sheets that Mr. watson provided, is always a good thing because it just lets you say that last little bit that was on your mind.

7. I dont really have anything else other to say than, this project was great, I definitely think that we should do more, and this was very helpful for me. It not only helped my writing to be a little bit better, but it let me interact on a global level, which i would have not been able to do otherwise without having done this project.

Second Character Analysis

In the act 2 scene 2 Helena is still apparently in love with Demetrius. She takes so much verbal abuse from him its not even funny. He is saying things to her that if they were said to any other person, it would make their feelings hurt, and not like that person anymore. But somehow Helena is able to just see right through everything Demetrius is saying because she loves him so much. I think thats going to become a problem with her further down into the story because shes basically setting herself up to be used by him to get what he wants and then for her to get hurt. The reason Helena might also be letting this kind of treatment go on is because of her lack of confidence in herself. She has no self respect and lets herself be treated how others want to treat her. She doesn't stand up for herself when Demetrius says those mean things to her. I hope she is going to be able to start a change in herself before something really bad happens that she regrets.

Midnight Summer Dream Character Analysis

There are many characters in the book that we are reading right now. One of the ones that has been mentioned a lot so far in the book is the character Helena. She has been mentioned thinking about a man named Demetrius. Helena is in love with him but the only problem is, is that he is in love with Hermia. This is a problem for Helena because now she is beginning to get filled with jealousy, and that is never a good thing. The jealousy makes her think of an evil plan to get Lysander and Hermia caught sneaking out to get married. She is only doing this because she is not getting anything that she wants. Since Hermia gets Lysander, and the man that she loves is in love with Hermia, Helena gets no one and is alone. This makes her not feel like she is a very pretty person. She ends up talking to Hermia about how she is so much in love with him and Hermia isn't, yet Demetrius can only think about Hermia. And to Helena it seems unfair that Hermia can avoid him, and not talk to him, and do all these things to make him not like her, and yet he still loves her more and more. Helena asks Hermia how she does this and wants to be able to do this herself so she too can have Demetrius in love with her, but not all things are that easy.
Helena is pretty much wrapped around Demetrius' finger because she will do anything for him. I say this because of their past. She has slept with him before, and they also made an oath to love each other, and still, Demetrius fell in love with Hermia. Even after Helena knows this she still loves Demetrius. To me this shows that she is all for him, and wants him to the point where she will do anything to get him.

Sustainability Fair

Today at the sustainability fair we learned lots of things. We basically walked around, going from booth to booth collecting as much information that we could. During the walk around we saw booths ranging from showing us how long it takes for different materials to decompose in the earth, to how animals are getting killed all the time by plastic debris that they get stuck in and get trapped and die.
I went to one booth that talked about the construction of the new Case middle school and the materials that were used in the building of it. I found out many interesting facts that i did not know before. While i was getting information from that booth i found out that most of the things in the middle school that the children used such as lockers... were made out of recyclables. Basically the case middle school was made out of a lot of recycled products that would have otherwise been turned into trash. Another one of the good things about case is that it has solar power. It uses solar power to get energy instead of using the normal electricity from a company. This helps the environment a lot.
Another booth that i saw talked about how the 5th graders had raised money by turning in glass and plastic bottles to raise enough money to adopt 3 tigers from the zoo. Since all they had to do was recycle, and that was only a small group of kids. Just imagine if the entire school had done that? The money raised would be a huge amount.
The last thing that i found out at the fair was that how the Hawaiians managed the land when they were around. They used a thing called the Kapu system which would prohibit someone from doing something. The Hawaiians had this system because it insured that everyone would get their fair share of food and water. If you broke this kapu rule, then the warriors would come after you to kill you, and the only way for you to not be killed the the warriors was if you were to get to a Hawaiian temple or church. It was only there where you would be safe from the harm of the warriors, and after you reached there you were safe, and they would no longer come after you.
Those are things that i learned at the sustainability fair. I learned a lot and I hope I can use the information that I learned to help benefit not only me, but the world that I live in too.

Hawaiian ghost story

My parents told me many stories when i was young. They would tell me a wide array of stories that went from nice peaceful ones about love, and spooky ones that were made to make me have nightmares. My dad would often tell me the scary ones and turn the lights off in my room because he wanted to make me more scared. And oh boy was he good at it. He would always make me have to sleep with them in their room because i would get scared of being alone after that by myself in fear of a ghost or something coming and getting me with all the scary stories that he told me. One ghost story that my parents told me when i was small was the story about the ghostly woman that would appear in the bathroom of the old drive inn in waialae. Supposedly what happens is women who use the bathroom walk up to the sink to wash their hands, and when they look in the mirror they see a reflection of a woman, and when they look behind them to see if she is still there, shes just gone. She vanishes without making any sounds or disturbance at all. She wouldn't appear all the time. Most people never even got to see her in the reflection of the mirror. If you did... you were sure in for a scare. The old drive inn has been replaced with a storage facility and no one has seen the ghostly woman since they put the storage facility up. Thats just one of the ghost stories that my parents told me when i was small.

Cinematographer

If i was to make this book into a movie, i think it would be very hard. I have seen many other movies from foreign countries especially Asian ones. The one thing that I usually notice with all of the Asian movies that I have seen is that they are all really hard to follow. They have really fast transitions to the next scene or what happens next. You also end up figuring a lot of things out by yourself because they don't just put it out there. They leave you questioning sometimes so you have to go back and read it over, or see the movie again to clear things up.
The other thing that i would say about this if it were to turn into a movie, would be that it would be much more suited for older audiences. I wouldn't expect to see a kid in this type of movie because of the graphic things that happen in it. Things like babies being born, girls going through their menstrual cycle, and destroying of people's property is just not the type of thing you really want to show your kids. Or at least i wouldn't.
The last thing that I would have to say is that it would be very hard to relate to since I don't really think our culture is the same way at all as this one. And usually people like to watch things that they can relate to because it is more interesting to them. Since the two different cultures are so different people would not understand the things like when she is supposed to be loyal to her family and work on the fields, that is only known to happen in Asian cultures. In places like America you would not generally see that so you wouldn't know how to relate to the person in the movie since the lives of the two people are so incredibly different.

The Woman Warrior... so far

So far I have read up to the part where she is just starting to go away from the old people that she was living and training with for the past fifteen years. There is nothing that is really confusing me at this point because i had all my questions the other day in class. My thoughts of whats going on so far is that some things didn't seem very real in the story, such as eating the ten pounds of sap and then you would live forever... that was kind of untrue. But then again this is just a story so what can you expect. Besides those couple of things I really dont think that there is much that i need clearing up on yet. At this point and time in the book I'm pretty clear on everything thats going on.

Maxine's Imagination

Maxine is just a little girl that is just trying to find out who she is as a person. She uses her imagination to figure out things in life, and either make up an alternate way of thinking about something, or using it to help her better understand something so she does not feel so clueless. In any occasion she is just trying to figure herself out as a person.

6 Methods of Characterization

Appearance: My dads appearance was when he was young, so he probably looked like a little boy, and had nother really other than his looks to characterize him by. He was basically short, with a bowl cut for his hair style, and had a high pitched voice.

Inner thoughts/feelings: They were probably that he was curious, before he touched the stove that is, and then after he probably felt really sad. He probably felt this way because he had just burned his hand, and the maid didn't even stop him. He also thought that there was something really wrong with his hand since there was an intensely painful throbbing feeling coming from it.

Environment: The environment that my dad grew up in was New York. So he was probably learning how people were and acted since he was so young. His dad was very wealthy so he lived a good lifestyle and always had everything he needed and couldn't have any hardship since he was so young.

What They Say: My dad didn't really speak yet since he was so young... so there is nothing really to say for this.

Actions: His action was that he put his hand on the stove, and then got his hand burned. Those are the actions that he did.

Family Story

One of the family stories that my dad has told me when i was growing up was the story about his maid letting him burn his hand.

It started off with his maid making him some dinner one day and he was walking around the kitchen, and the stove was on. The stove was on max heat since she was trying to cook dinner, and the burners were all bright red since they were so hot. My dad walked around to the other side of the kitchen to where the stove was and looked at it for a second. At this point in his life he didn't know how to tell the difference between things that were hot or cold yet, so when he saw the burners glowing bright red he didn't that that meant that they were extremely hot. So the maid looked over and saw him reaching his hand out to touch the burners and then my dad looked at her, and she didn't stop him from touching them. She just stood there and watched. After my dad put his hand on the burner and burned the heck out of his hand she said, "Now you know not to touch things that are hot."

That maid was immidiately fired after that because my dad had to go to the hospital to treat his wounds. But thats also how he ended up teaching me, but he didn't let me touch the stove, he just let me get close and feel the heat. But this was one of the stories. It's basically how my dad and I learned to tell the difference between hot and cold.

Moral of the story... DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING THATS GLOWING RED... unless its a flashlight or a glow stick.

MOODLE...

What do I like about Moodle?

I like that we can message the entire class. I also like that we can do work and then have the rest of the class be able to read and comment on it to give us suggestions on what we can fix.

Creative ways to use Moodle?

We can use it to talk to all the other classmates and discuss certain topics. The teacher can also write something and we can all comment on it to help him out with whatever the task may be.

I wish that moodle could...

I wish that moodle could be able to get my anything i wanted in the world for free. I also wish it had a controller that could control time and could let me be able to stop time. I also wish that i could order something that would make me invisible so i could be sneaky and no one could see me. I also wish that i could type in a wish and it would always come true.

Lost Sister Quote

"And the daughters were greatful; they never left home. To move was a luxury stolen from them at birth."

This is an important quote because it shows what the life was like of a little chinese girl. It explains that they were never allowed to leave the house and they were like that from birth to present. It shows how the life of someone there was not a very good one. It also shows how little power the women have there. The fact that they can't even go outside of their own homes suggests that they had little freedom and just did what they were told. It makes it sound like they never saw the light of day and only were inside all of the time.

This poem shows that the way people live is the type of person they are going to be. Peoples surroundings affect them in every way. People's family also affect who they are because if the family is a mean family the kid will likely become an aggressive person too. The poem describes this girls life and how dim it is and unsatisfying it really is. The girl probably feels like this because of the harsh surroundings that she has grown up in for her entire life.

Introduction to mwah

I am a boy that loves action. I never have a dull moment in my life unless the people around me bring it upon me. I actually am a fan of writing poems that rhyme, because I like to rhyme a lot. Umm... I like to laugh A LOT. I like hanging out with friends, and going places. THE END!
